Kisspeptin (KISS1 gene product) is a family of neuropeptides that act as the primary upstream regulators of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) secretion. Kisspeptin neurons in the hypothalamus are considered the master gatekeepers of the reproductive axis.
Kisspeptin binds the GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor on GnRH neurons to trigger GnRH pulsatile release, which subsequently drives LH and FSH secretion from the anterior pituitary. Research has examined its roles in puberty onset, seasonal reproductive biology, sex steroid feedback (both positive and negative), and metabolic regulation of fertility. Kisspeptin-54 and Kisspeptin-10 are the most studied isoforms. This vial provides a research-grade preparation for HPG axis studies. For laboratory research use only.
