Thymosin Alpha-1 (Tα1) is a 28-amino-acid peptide originally isolated from thymosin fraction 5 of bovine thymus tissue. It is one of the most studied immunomodulatory peptides, with decades of research spanning infectious disease, oncology, and autoimmune models.
Tα1 acts primarily through Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling and dendritic cell activation, promoting Th1-dominant immune responses and enhancing natural killer (NK) cell activity. Research has examined its role in restoring immune competence in immunocompromised models, augmenting vaccine efficacy, and modulating inflammatory cytokine profiles. It has been investigated in models of chronic viral infection, sepsis, and cancer immunotherapy adjuvancy. For laboratory research use only.
